Help Us Crowd-Build Queensland’s First Elite Tennis Training Estate
Newtons Tennis is planning a state-of-the-art, not-for-profit high-performance centre in North Brisbane (STCA).
This centre will be unlike anything Queensland has ever seen:
- A home where world-class professionals can live onsite, train, recover, and give back by mentoring juniors.
- A high-performance program for up to 20 juniors, bridging the gap between club tennis and TA pathways.
- Onsite schooling, mindset coaching, strength & fitness, plus saunas, ice baths, a lap pool and more.
This is a $7 million philanthropic investment by our family, not a commercial venture. There is no money in high-performance tennis — which is why it hasn’t been done before in Queensland. But we’re ready to build. Civil works are at the stage where we can pour concrete — we just need to make sure we haven’t missed anything important.
Why we need YOU
We’re crowd-building this centre. That means we want players, parents, enthusiasts and coaches to share their knowledge and experience to help us avoid errors and make this facility the very best it can be.
An example? A parent once pointed out that painting large brand logos on courts can become slippery when wet. So make it smaller rather then large. That kind of insight makes all the difference.
Some areas we’re seeking input on
- Best practices for clay court drainage and construction. The clay will come from France
- How to channel water runoff across a site that drops 9 metres, over 180 metres
- We have built 1 metre tiered terraces of sandstone blocks, what planting should be done on those walls to soften the look
- Solar lighting options that are cost-effective and world-class for the actual court lights.
- What’s essential in a tennis-specific gym.
- Timing for fence post installation, can this be done before the slabs are poured?
- Advice for building a Wimbledon replica grass court in QLD conditions.
- Correct geo materials and base prep for authentic Roland Garros clay (imported from France).
- Recommendations for a town planning lawyer advocate/gun to work with our town planners and current consultants
- The best digital access & security system for this private gated facility for players and visiting Pros (QR entry, etc.).
- Plus many more still to come....
How to get involved
Every meaningful contribution will be considered — and those who help shape this project will be acknowledged on a plaque at the centre.
Together, we can build a legacy training estate that will serve high performance juniors, professionals, and Queensland tennis for generations to come.
